2026 Medalists – General Categories

We’re thrilled to announce the 2026 IPPY Medalists and celebrate a major milestone—the 30th anniversary of the Independent Publisher Book Awards!

When the IPPY Awards began in 1996, the idea was simple: independent books deserve to be recognized. Over the past three decades, we’ve had the privilege of honoring thousands of authors and publishers whose creativity, passion, and dedication continue to shape the world of independent publishing.

Thirty years later, we continue to be inspired by the books independent authors and publishers bring into the world. This year’s entries made our judges’ task both rewarding and incredibly challenging, and the quality, originality, and diversity of submissions served as a reminder of why celebrating independent voices remains so important.

Congratulations to our medalists and finalists, and thank you to everyone who entered!

OUTSTANDING BOOKS OF THE YEAR

Out of all 2026 IPPY entries, these Outstanding Books of the Year rose to the top for their inspiring messages and excellence, earning Gold Medals.
